About Chrysalife
Chrysalife was created to bring top quality mulberry silk bedding and sleepwear to the American Continent so Americans can enjoy the health and healing properties of silk which have been enjoyed by the world’s royalty for thousands of years. We believe that the health benefits of silk will be embraced by the west and we can all rest and rejuvenate more thoroughly when we sleep in Chrysalife silk. In order to assure top quality, we control the production of our sleep line from harvesting silk yarn to twisting, weaving, washing, cutting, sewing, marketing and distribution.
Chrysalife is wholly owned by Chrysalis Silk Corp and is incorporated in Seattle, Washington with design offices in Malibu, California and production in the Sichuan province of China.
Chrysalife Quality
Chrysalife silk is 100% organic and completely sustainable as it has been for thousands of years. Our factory in the Sichuan province of China is IS09001: 2000 and GB/T 9001-2000 certified for World Class Quality Management Systems. We are certified by both the IAF and CNAS Management System.
Natural Hypoallergenic & Healing Properties of Chrysalife Silk
One of the most important benefits of Chrysalife silk bedding is the hypoallergenic property of our single filament silk textiles. By twisting single strands of silk together, we achieve smooth single strand yarns which do not fray or turn into microbial particles when you sleep. These microbial particles found in cotton sleep products become inhaled by your respiratory system while we sleep and cause allergies every night in millions of people every year. Because our silk sleep products are completely hypoallergenic and do not create microbial particles, you will enjoy a more restful sleep in Chrysalife.
Another benefit of Chrysalife silk sleep products is our silk’s natural resilience to potential allergens such as dust mites, mold spores, and fungus. The unique amino acids and Saracen only found in silk are naturally engineered to resist these allergens and protect us from their harmful effects.
These amino acids and Saracen have naturally evolved to protect the silk worm from harsh environmental elements, stress and fatigue during its metamorphosis into a moth. When we sleep in Chrysalife silk, these unique amino acids and Saracen have a similar effect on our bodies as well. Our silk linens are a natural combatant of stress and fatigue. They protect our skin from wrinkling and aging. They also provide nutrients for our hair & have a calming effect on our central nervous system which must be witnessed to be believed. Chrysalife Silk Sleep Products are truly one of Nature’s miracles for rest and rejuvenation.
Easy to Care For
We recommend hand washing your Chrysalife silk the first 2 times although our silk may also be machine washed using the gentle cycle with a mild soap and cool water. We recommend drying outside in sunlight or tumble dry on low heat for 15-20 minutes then remove and hang to avoid overheating the silk. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach to prolong the life of your silk. We do not recommend dry cleaning on any silk products other than the the comforters because of the toxic chemicals used in the dry cleaning process.

Be Careful of Scams
Never buy silk from a non-ISO certified supplier to guarantee proper manufacturing processes. There are several companies out there who sell synthetic fiber linens but say they are 100% Silk. Generally a set of 100% Silk linens should retail for $200USD or much more depending on the quality. Be careful of polyester knock off’s as they are extremely flammable and posses none of the healing properties of real mulberry silk. We do not recommend burning your sheets to verify this but Chrysalife silk is naturally fire retardant as well and will never pill like polyester or cotton.
What is momme weight and how does it relate to my bedding?
Momme (mm) weight is a unit of measure developed by the Japanese centuries ago and is the standard unit of measure we use to weigh silk textiles.
Momme (mm) is pronounced "mummy."
For silk duvet covers and sheets, a momme weight of 14mm-19mm is considered good quality. Silk duvet covers and sheets in the range of 19mm-28mm could be considered high quality but may be too warm for summertime. Any sheets lighter than 13mm may result in poor durability and could be prone to damage or tearing.
Generally a higher momme weight yields a heavier piece of fabric which means a greater amount of silk yarn is woven into the piecegoods or fabric. The heavier goods will generally be warmer than the lighter goods. Although silk breaths exceptionally well we recommend 14-19 mm sheets for summertime and 20+ mm for the cooler winter months. Silk will always breathe better and keep you warmer than cotton.
What is a Jacquard?
Jacquard refers to the type of loom upon which a fabric is woven. A jacquard loom is a textile loom that is driven by a jacquard head. The use of the jacquard head permits designsers to weave intricate multi-color patterns into the fabric. Jacquard looms can also be used to weave flat weaves, such as satin and habotai, which are commonly used in silk bedding. Jacquard machines weave fabrics slower than traditional looms, so linens woven on jacquard looms are generally more expensive than linens woven on standard looms.
